Stock in a bin will be available to the automatic stock reservation routine if the following is true:

  • There is free stock in the bin.
  • The bin has not been ‘frozen’, usually used by the stock check but can be set manually.
  • The bin is not quarantined (flag is set manually).
  • The bin is set to allow auto-stock reservation.
  • The bin is EITHER pickable OR the flag “Pick whole outers from bulk bin” is true and the bin is a bulk bin (as specified on the bin profile).

“Pick whole outers from bulk bin”

There is a slight oddity going on with the “Pick whole outers from bulk bin” flag. If set, whole outers will ONLY be picked from bulk bins if the stock is available in those. However, it will NOT reserve stock in a bulk bin you cannot pick from, it has to be relocated to a pickable bulk bin. Neither will it reserve the stock in the pick-face bins as long as it is available in a bulk bin.

Any quantity needed that is less than the outer quantity will only be reserved in a pick-face bin.

To be counted as an outer quantity, it has to be set to more than 1.
